Grilled steak and potatoes are an American staple. Lucky for me, my husband cooks steak to perfection! (OK, I may or may not hawk over his shoulder saying, you better not overcook my steak! LOLOLOL)
This recipe involves nothing more than seasoning the steak and throwing it on the grill for about 12 minutes. Timing obviously depends on the size and desired temperature preference. We love our steak medium so we cook it to an internal temp of about 155 degrees, however take a look at the temps below and cook yours accordingly.
COOKING TEMPERATURES
Rare: internal temp 135 degrees
Medium Rare: internal temp 140 degrees
Medium: internal temp 155 degrees
Medium Well: internal temp 165 degrees
WHERE TO BUY
I buy my steak at Costco but honestly you can buy it where ever. Every local supermarket sells steak however I prefer the Top Sirloin at Costco for the quality and the price. I don’t particularly like fatty steak so top sirloin or filet mignon is my go-to (I never actually buy filet mignon though, its a bit pricey!) There are usually about 4-5 steaks that come in the Costco tray so I put the other two in individual sandwich bags and throw them in the freezer for a later date.
I serve steak with a variety of sides. I usually always pair it with my tomato/cucumber salad recipe and choose from Cauliflower Hash, Roasted Rosemary Potatoes, Cauliflower Rice or even regular rice. (click each side listed to get the recipe)
Hope you enjoy Swizzle’s grilled steak recipe as much as I do!
