I am really starting to love my Cuisinart Air Fryer! I realized that I wasn’t utilizing it as much as I should and this week I put it to the test! Everyone loved my Teriyaki Chicken Wings so I figured why not make a different flavor! Let me tell you these Honey BBQ Chicken Wings did NOT disappoint! They were very crispy, flavorful and will definitely be added to the regular rotation!
WHAT IS AN AIR FRYER?
An Air Fryer is supposed to give you the healthier version of fried foods. It basically is a mini convection oven that uses hot air to crisp up the food with minimal oil used. If you don’t know… now you know!
WHAT AIR FRYER SHOULD I BUY?
I love my air fryer for the simple fact that is large and in charge! I bought the Cuisinart Air Fryer (click here to view/buy) which is not only an air fryer, it is also an oven, a broiler (both with convection option) and a toaster. The best part is it fits a ton in it! I just looked at the air fryer that Costco sells and the basket is TINY. Which means you would have to do multiple batches…. who wants to deal with that?! See my unboxing video on YouTube by clicking here or scrolling down.
INSPIRATION
The sauce inspiration came from my Instant Pot Honey BBQ Meatballs (click here to view that recipe). I get a ton of comments on how much everyone loves those meatballs so I thought why not use it on wings?! It is super simple and is very tasty! It is literally two ingredients… honey and bbq sauce! You can’t get much simpler than that folks!
SUPER EASY
This recipe is fool proof! There is literally no way to mess it up! You simply place the wings in the basket, cover with cooking spray and air fry. You mix and simmer the sauce and toss with the wings. VOILA! Please note: If you don’t have an air fryer as big as the Cuisinart TOA-60 you will have to make these in multiple batches. You can also double this recipe if you are making these for a group of people.
NUTRITION
They were super easy to make and require no oil! Per large wing, there are 167 calories, 15g carbs, 6g fat and 13g protein. Quite honestly I feel like these stats might be a little higher than the reality because even though I used 1.5# of chicken wings, most of that is bone. There seems to be a ton of debate online on how to figure it out. Just know that these are NOT fried and don’t have batter so they are way healthier than your take out wings.
WHERE TO BUY
I buy my wings at Trader Joe’s. They are huge and have a good amount of meat on every wing. I always try to buy Organic Chicken now after many sketchy chicken experiences. The organic chicken wings are 1.99 a pound and usually have around 1.5 lbs in each tray. I also buy my honey at Trader Joe’s because they have the best pricing (there and Costco of course).
Hope you enjoy these wings as much as we did! Don’t forget to try my Air Fryer Teriyaki Chicken Wing Recipe too!
