Looking for fast and easy? These 10 minute ground turkey tacos literally take you 10 minutes from start to finish. You can find everything in this recipe at good ‘ol Trader Joe’s or at any local supermarket. They are the best recipe for those nights when you are starving and have little to no time.
These tacos are filled with lean ground turkey meat, veggies and avocado to give you that dose of healthy fat. I prefer ground turkey instead of beef. However, you could easily swap out the turkey for lean ground beef to give your life a bit of variety. You can also swap out the Trader Joe’s fire roasted veggies for 2 bell peppers and 1 onion. (please note: this will add minimal time to the prep)
I provided you with a list of toppings, however sky is the limit! You can use whatever toppings you prefer. I use greek yogurt as an alternative to sour cream (health is wealth people!) and I love pico de gallo instead of jarred salsa (think fresh tomatoes and onions diced small).
They can easily be made Gluten-free by choosing a corn tortilla or gluten-free tortilla of your choice. Beware! Many taco seasonings have gluten in them. Be sure to check the ingredients! Trader Joe’s taco seasoning is gluten-free (photo below). Please note: that one 1.3oz package is for 2 lbs of meat! To be safe, you could also make your own seasoning by mixing together sea salt, cumin, cayenne pepper, cane sugar, paprika, onion, garlic, black pepper, red bell pepper, oregano, chili pepper, and smoked paprika. (geesh that sounds painful!).
Products I love to use when making this recipe:
Quick and easy ground turkey Taco Recipe!
- 1 1/2 lbs ground turkey
- 1 bag Trader Joe's Fire Roasted Peppers & Onions
- 3/4 packet (1.3oz) taco seasoning
- sliced avocado
- shredded green/purple cabbage
- lime juice
- hot sauce (I love Cholula)
- Greek Yogurt
- pico de gallo (fresh salsa)
- low fat shredded cheese
In a lightly greased (I just use cooking spray) saute pan, saute peppers and onions for about 4 minutes.
add ground turkey and taco seasoning and cook till no longer pink, about 5 minutes.
while turkey is cooking, slice the avocado and get the rest of the toppings out! brown the tortillas in a toaster or a saute pan.
spoon the ground turkey mixture into the taco shells and top with your favorite toppings or the ones I suggested! Enjoy!
