This Sweet & Spicy Crock-Pot Chili is a fresh take on chili! It is a blend of sweet (from the onions, squash and sweet potatoes) and spicy (from the turkey sausage and spices). Despite what everyone thinks, it does get chilly here in Sunny San Diego and this is the perfect warm up for those nights!
NUTRITION
This chili is gluten-free, bean-less and is packed with lean ground turkey, veggies, butternut squash and sweet potatoes! It has 440 calories per serving, 40g of protein, 20g of fat and 30g of carbs. It is the perfect post workout meal giving you your fill of both healthy carbs and protein.
CROCK-POT
If you buy pre-cut butternut squash, this recipe is super easy to prep and throw in the crock-pot. I usually brown the onions, turkey sausage and ground turkey before I throw it in the crock-pot but if you are short on time you can skip that step. If you don’t brown the meat you can also eliminate some fat and calories from the olive oil and minced garlic.
OPTIONS
I happened to have half of a red and orange pepper on hand so I used those, however you can use whatever bell pepper you prefer (or is the cheapest). I serve this with low fat shredded cheese and if I’m feeling frisky some Tostito’s Scoops!

This was delicious ! It was spicy but not over the top. I liked the combo of sweet potatoes, butternut squash and tomatoes. My husband raved about this dish, and I served it over a brown rice/quinoa mix. Yum!
Brie OCD
