This honey lemon salmon is super easy and delicious! With 10 minutes (or less) on the prep and 14 minutes on the grill (no supervision required) this is a slam dunk!
Per serving (approx 1 – 6oz fillet) this recipe has 262 calories, 11g carbs, 7.5g fat and 35g of protein. It is seriously a no brainer, a must have meal. Salmon is filled with Omega 3 fatty acids, which are considered a healthy fat. Omega 3’s serve as energy to the muscles, heart and other organs and they also reduce inflammation in the body. I am only scratching the surface on the benefits of salmon but the moral of the story is to EAT IT!
HONEY & LEMON
Let’s get this straight. I am not a fan of honey or lemon BUT I decided to try this combo and it was really delicious. I think the addition of soy sauce, garlic and red chili pepper flakes really knocked this one out of the park.
I made this salmon just like I make all of my other salmon recipes… in a foil pack, on the grill! I was going to cook it on the stovetop and then I said why? Why mess with a good thing? You simply place the salmon on a large sheet of tin foil and tent the sides like the photo shown in the recipe below. Clean up is a breeze and it’s delicious every time! It’s fool proof, I swear! (However, if you live in a cold region you can follow the recipe below and use the oven instead!)
WHERE TO BUY
I buy my salmon at Costco (shocker!) however you can find it at your local supermarket. I buy my soy sauce and honey at Trader Joe’s because you can’t beat the prices! Most of the spices below I buy at Von’s (local supermarket) because they have the most variety, however, I would always check Trader Joe’s first because the prices are much more affordable (spices are expensive!).
I served this with white rice however if you are looking for a more carb friendly option, serve with Cauliflower Rice or Cauliflower hash. Or serve it up with some grilled vegetables and you have yourself a nice low carb, low cal, low fat meal. Boom!
Hope you devour this, just like my husband did!
Products I love to use when making this dish:
- 2 salmon fillets, patted dry (approx 6oz each)
- salt, pepper, creole and blackening seasoning (to lightly season salmon)
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp lemon juice (or juice of 1 lemon)
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1/2 lemon, sliced
- parsley, chopped (garnish)
preheat grill to 375-400.
place one piece of salmon on a large sheet of tin foil. lightly season each side with salt, pepper, creole and blackening seasoning. Repeat with other piece.
pour sauce onto each piece of salmon and top with 2-3 lemon slices depending on size.
make a tent with the foil around the salmon and seal all edges (see photo). place on grill, shut cover and "bake" for 14 minutes.
open foil pack and carefully remove salmon and transfer to a plate. Top with parsley. Serve with rice, Cauliflower rice (click here for recipe) or Cauliflower Hash (click here for recipe) or grilled/sauteed vegetables.
